  1. You can't just be a virtuous person, you must act virtuously. When you choose which task you will perform, remember to always aim at performing it virtuously. Your task may ultimately fail, but your aim never will. Therefore, no well considered task, no matter the outcome, is ever futile, for in the very act of striving, we are better men and women.
